Originally from the French tropical island of Reunion, Mufti Billal Omarjee studied Islamic theology at Darul Uloom Bury and trained as a Mufti at Darul Uloom Blackburn. He also got a degree in Banking and Law from London Metropolitan University and a diploma in Islamic Banking and Finance from the Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance, London. Mufti Billal worked as a research assistant for Mufti Zubair Butt, chair of the Al Qalam Sharia Panel. He was also the Imam of Chingford Mosque for two years and helped people calculate their zakat at the National Zakat Foundation (NZF). Mufti Billal has given over 100 zakat workshops in the UK and Reunion Island. He is Shariah board member for a MRHB DeFi and an external consultant for , Islamic Finance Guru, NZF, and Islamic Relief.
